Hundreds of horses participate in national-scale race in Ambal

KEBUMEN-as many as 200 horses competed to be the winner of the horse race in Ambalresmi Village, Ambal District, Kebumen. The event became a national-scale annual agenda with participants from various regions in Indonesia.

Furthermore, it provides trophies and coaching money for the winners. He also asked the regent to immediately submit a proposal for the construction of a horse racing area in Kebumen, in order to become more modern.

“I hope the Regent can execute the proposal to the ministry, so that (this arena) can be built. I think the opportunity is great, so that Kebumen will later be able to have a repesentative racetrack,” he said, when handing over the race prize to the winner, at the event location, Tuesday (16/4/2024).

The Regent of Kebumen, Arif Sugiyanto, said that horse racing is one of the tourist attractions owned by the Regency on the south coast of Java island.

“Evidently, this horse race participants not only from Kebumen, but also many from outside the region. There are from South Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Tasikmalaya. With this kind of activity, Kebumen increasingly known to many people, and the economy is more advanced,” said Regent Arif.

For information, horse racing in Ambal district is routinely held every one week after Eid al-Fitr. There were 17 classes contested, including Class A Sprint, class Open 2000, Class B, Class C Long, Class C Sprint, Class D Main, Class D Intermediate, Class E, Class F, Class G, Class H, Class I, and Class J.

In addition, local Classes A and B, traditional local Classes A and B, Derby candidate classes (young horses), and small and large inaugural starter classes.
