A total of 74 jockeys competed in the 2024 Bupati Cup horse racing championship which was held on August 24-25 at Mojosari Puger Village Field. The championship competes in 12 classes with distances up to 1,200 meters.
Kadispora Jember Edy Budi Susilo, stated that the event was lively and attended by participants from various regions. Participants from Pasuruan dominated the victory, bringing home many gold medals.
“There are 15 champions won by horse racing jockeys from Pasuruan and Jember. The most dominant was Pasuruan. If Jember, there are about 3 gold medals and other medals,” Edy told RRI Jember, Monday (26/8/2024).
The championship was attended by participants from Pasuruan, Malang, Lumajang, Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, Kediri and Probolinggo. With the race class, ranging from local Class Jember, Prime Class, Mini Class B, Class K, gig Racing, Class J, Class I, Class H, Class G, Class F, Class E and Class D.
According to him, the biggest sporting event in Jember is not just a sporting event. But also a place to establish a relationship between equestrian activists and improve achievement. The participants brought their best horses to compete.
“I hope this event continues to grow and have a positive impact on the people of Jember. I appreciate the participants and the organizing committee who have worked hard to make this event a success,” he said.
The event is also equipped with a variety of entertainment and supporting activities that add to the lively atmosphere. For example, the bazaar of superior products for MSMEs in Jember Regency.
He hopes that this will continue to be an annual agenda as well as to promote the potential of sports and tourism.
“The atmosphere in the beautiful garden Racetrack on the East embankment was very lively. With the full support of the community who enthusiastically watched every race,” he said.
The opening of the championship was attended by the head of the dike, Police Chief Dike, Danramil Dike, Village Head Wetan Dike and Chairman of Coom PORDASI from Jember Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Malang regency, Banyuwangi Regency, Kediri Regency, Lumajang Regency.
