63 racing horses race to win the Regent Cup in Bondowoso

They come from various cities/districts in East Java. Compete at the Pancoran Village horse racing field to compete for the Regent Cup.

Thousands of people crowded the horse racing field in Pancoran Village, Bondowoso District, Bondowoso Regency. They poured out to watch the horse race for the Regent’s Cup, Sunday (4/8/2024).

A total of 63 horses from various cities in East Java participated in the Regent Cup II horse race. They compete for trophies, charters and coaching money from the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (Pordasi).

The second time this horse race was held, it was opened directly by the acting regent of Bondowoso M Hadi Wawan Guntoro. And attended by Forkopimda and former acting regent Bondowoso Bambang Soekwanto.

The activity is an annual event that has been held 2 times since the establishment of the Association of equestrian sports throughout Indonesia (Pordasi) Bondowoso.

Chairman Pordasi Bondowoso Abdul Fatah said, as many as 63 horses participants from the East Java region who participated with the number of athletes varies for each horse.

“This horse race is an open Regency, so participants from outside Bondowoso Regency can participate. If the jockey can be one person can be two horses, ” he said on the sidelines of a horse race match.

Fatah explained that the equestrian competition, which is divided into 12 classes, is also to attract the best athletes prepared for the upcoming Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) event.

“All districts will send all to compete in Porprov. This is part of the selection for local and national level contestation,” he added.

The former Village Head hopes that this horse racing sport will receive full support from the Bondowoso Regency government so that it can compete with other regions.
